FAQ
What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?
They describe the same color differently: HEX (#ff8800) and RGB (rgb(255, 136, 0)) specify red, green and blue channels, while HSL (hsl(32, 100%, 50%)) uses hue, saturation and lightness, which is easier to adjust by hand.
What is the 8-digit HEX value?
The last two digits encode alpha (opacity), e.g. #ff880080 is about 50% transparent. It is supported in all modern browsers.
Why does the picked color differ slightly from the design tool?
Screenshots and image compression (especially JPEG) can change pixel values, and different color profiles can shift colors slightly. Use a lossless PNG for exact values.
