Data Format Converter

About Data Converter

Convert structured data between JSON, YAML, TOML, XML and Java .properties formats — useful for moving configuration between tools such as Kubernetes (YAML), Cargo and pyproject (TOML), Spring (properties/YAML) and REST APIs (JSON).

Nested objects are preserved across formats. Properties files use dotted keys and Spring-style list indexes (items[0].name), and values such as 007 keep their leading zeros. Everything is converted locally in your browser.

How to use

  1. Choose the input format in From and the output format in To.
  2. Paste your data and click Convert.
  3. Copy the result. Parse errors are shown with the reason from the parser.

FAQ

Are comments preserved?

No. JSON has no comments, and parsers discard YAML/TOML comments when reading the data, so comments are lost during conversion.

How are arrays converted to properties?

Arrays become indexed keys: {"tags": ["a", "b"]} turns into tags[0]=a and tags[1]=b, which is the format Spring Boot uses. The same syntax is read back into arrays.

Why does a one-element array become an object after an XML round trip?

XML has no array type — a single <item> element looks the same as a non-array field. This is a limitation of XML itself rather than of the converter.
