About Markdown Table

Create Markdown tables with a spreadsheet-like editor instead of aligning pipes by hand. Add or remove rows and columns, set left, center or right alignment per column, and copy the generated Markdown.

You can also import existing data: paste a Markdown table, cells copied from Excel or Google Sheets (tab-separated), or CSV. Pipe characters inside cells are escaped automatically.

How to use

  1. Type into the cells; the first row is the header.
  2. Use + Row and + Column to grow the table, and the alignment button in each column header to change alignment.
  3. Click Import to paste an existing table or spreadsheet data.
  4. Copy the generated Markdown.

FAQ

How do I convert Excel data to a Markdown table?

Select the cells in Excel or Google Sheets, copy them, click Import, and paste. Copied cells are tab-separated, which is detected automatically.

How do I put a | character in a cell?

Just type it. The generator writes it as \| so it is not treated as a column separator.

Where do Markdown tables work?

GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Obsidian and most Markdown renderers support this GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) table syntax.
